Annual festivals and events in the Algarve
The Algarve has an endless programme of events running throughout the year, located across the region.
During the summer months while the weather is at its best, open air concerts will be found alongside gastronomy festivals, local produce and tradition is celebrated with lots of street dancing and outdoor fun!
Annual sporting events attract spectators and competitors from across the world, including kite surfing, surfing, cycling, tennis, golf and the long standing annual motorbike convention
Cultural events are plentiful throughout the year with most towns having art galleries showing varied exhibitions from both international and local artists.
Religion is a big part of Portuguese life and many celebrations centre around these religious dates and saints, with wonderful processions and street parties taking over whole towns.

April - Liberation day - celebrated by towns across the region
May - Caracols (Snails) festival - Various towns
June - celebrations of the popular saints - across the region

August - Fatacil (local businesses, agriculture and handicrafts) - Lagoa
Medieval fair - Silves
Sardine festival - Portimao
Seafood festival - Olhao
September - Fisherman's festival - Albufeira
October - Festival of birdwatching - Sagres
Golf - Portugal Masters - Vilamoura
November - Sweet potato festival - Aljezur
December - Father Christmas walk - Albufeira
